According to the production process, the main machines for cardboard packaging can be divided into three types:corrugated cardboard production line (making raw paper into cardboard), cardboard forming equipment (making cardboard into cardboard boxes), and assistant equipment (use for packaging, handling, etc.).
1. Corrugated cardboard production line
This is the core "heart" equipment of the whole cardboard box factory, responsible for processing rolls of raw paper into flat and strong corrugated cardboard. It usually include below machines:
Raw paper holder: used to put and hold big rolls of raw paper.
Single side corrugated machine: press a sheet of raw paper into wavy shape corrugated paper and bond it with another face paper to form a single facer corrugated cardboard.
Adhesive coating machine and double facer machine: put gluer on the edges of single facer cardboard, then cover it with a surface paper, and press it into the final three layer, five layer, or even seven layer corrugated cardboard.
Cross cutting machine: according to the setting length, cut the continuously produced cardboard and stack them tidy.

2. Corrugated carton forming equipment
Once the cardboard produced, it still need go through printing, cutting, bonding and other processes to become the final complete cardboard box. The main machines are normally including below:
Printing slotting machine: printing text patterns on cardboard, cut slots and indentations on the cardboard box to prepare for folding. High efficient models, such as high-speed ink printing machines, can also be equipped with functions such as waste cleaning and stacking.
Die cutting machine: regarding irregularly shape cardboard boxes or highly detailed colored boxes, the die cutting machine is used to cut the cardboard into specific shapes like stamping cookies.
Laminating machine: If you want to make high-end color boxes, you need to use this machine to bond the printed colored paper and corrugated cardboard together.
Nail box machine/glue box machine: this is the final step of forming, folding the cardboard and fixing it into a cardboard box with metal nails (nail box machine) or glue (glue box machine). The efficiency of a high-speed box gluing machine is 3-4 times higher than a old-fashioned box nailing machine.

3. Assistant and following equipment
Although these devices do not directly attend in the "manufacturing" of cardboard boxes, but they are equally important for packaging and transporting finished products:
Packing machine: Bundle the finished cardboard boxes into stacks for easy handling and storage.
Forklift: used to transport heavy rolls of raw paper and stacks of finished cardboard boxes.

The selection of equipment for a cardboard box factory should based on the factory's product positioning (such as making common cardboard boxes or high-end color boxes) and order characteristics (large quantities or multiple varieties and small batches). Just keep in mind, It is not the more advanced equipment is ok for your factory, but the most suitable one is the best.
