Several dimensions can be used to separate the primary categorization of carton printing machines. Carton printing machines are categorized as follows based on their technical attributes and functional needs:
1. Printing process classification
Offset printing machine, also known as a lithographic printing machine:
A rubber cylinder in a lithographic printing machine transmits the ink from the printing plate to paper or other substrates. It can display subtle colors and picture effects and is appropriate for multi-color printing. High-quality color patterns and text are frequently printed using it in carton printing.
Gravure printing machine:
The ink is poured into the pit after a concave image and text portion are carved on the printing plate's surface. A scraper is used to remove any extra ink, which is subsequently moved to the substrate. It works well for beautifully printing cartons with demanding printing specifications, like Wabang cartons. The qualities of gravure printing include a thick layer of ink, vibrant colors, and a strong sense of three dimensions.
Flexographic printing machine:
Flexographic printing machines print on flexible plates, including rubber or resin plates, among others. It works well with a variety of substrates, such as cardboard, plastic film, paper, and metal foil. The benefits of flexographic printing are quick printing, affordability, and environmental preservation.
2. Color-based classification of prints
A printing device that can only print in one color is known as a monochrome printer. Ideal for printing simple patterns or text.
A printing press that can print in various colors either sequentially or concurrently is known as a multi-color printing press. Ideal for printing cartons that need vibrant color effects.
3. Categorization according to automation level
Machine for manual printing:
To finish the printing process, a manual printing machine needs to be operated manually. This includes inking and adjusting the location of the printing plate. It works well for low-precision and small-batch carton printing.
Semi-automatic printing machine: A portion of the machine's operation is carried out by machinery, while another portion still involves human intervention. Although it increases production efficiency, some manual intervention is still necessary.
A printing machine that is completely automated:
The entire operation of inking, repositioning the printing plate, and feeding and collecting paper can be done automatically by the fully automated printing machine. It works well for high-precision, large-scale carton printing, which may greatly increase printing quality and manufacturing efficiency.
