The manufacturing of corrugated cardboard boxes is really a high specialized automated process, involving many equipment with different functions that work closely together according to the process.
The whole process and main equipment can be divided into the following steps:
Step 1: Manufacturing materials (corrugated cardboard processing)
Equipment: Single facer machine, double facer machine
Part 2: Carton Forming (Printing and Post Processing)
Equipment: Printing slotting die-cutting machine, folder gluing machine
Step 3: Terminal Packaging (Packaging Line Automation)

Corrugated cardboard processing equipment
This is the foundation for manufacturing all corrugated carton boxes. The core goal is to produce corrugated cardboard which meets the requirements.
Single Facer: Roll corrugated paper into wavy shapes and bond it with a sheet of paper to produce single-facer corrugated cardboard. The production speed of high-performance equipment can reach up to around 500 meters per minute.
Double Facer: also called "laminating machine", it bonds single-sided corrugated cardboard with another sheet of paper to form a sturdy double-sided (or multi-layer) corrugated cardboard.
Printing and post-processing equipment
This is the stage of carton appearance and preliminary molding.
Printing machine: Print the text and pictures on the cardboard surface, normally have below 3 kinds of printing method:
Flexographic printing machine: the most choice for carton factory, normally use environmentally friendly water-based ink.
Printing slotting machine:combine printing,slotting, and die cutting function, it is one of the most common combination devices.
Digital printing machine: an emerging technology suitable for small batch and personalized customization, capable of achieving "printing from one box".
Die cutting machine: used to make irregularly shaped cardboard boxes for accurate cutting.
Folder gluer machine: Automatically fold and glue the printed with die cut cardboard sheets into a complete cardboard box. It devide into semi-automatic and fully automatic, the automatic ones can efficiently complete all processes such as gluing, folding, and pressing.
Terminal packaging line equipment
These equipment are used at the end of the production line to achieve packaging automation.
Unboxing machine: automatically opens, shapes, and seals the bottom of flat cardboard boxes to prepare for product loading.
Sealing machine: After the products put into the carton box, it automatically completes the sealing of the box cover (using tape or hot melt adhesive), the speed is more faster than manual operation.
The production of corrugated cardboard boxes is like an assembly line: cardboard processing equipment is a "fabric weaving factory", printing and post-processing equipment is a "tailor and printing workshop", and the packaging line equipment is the final "packaging assembly line".
