The main function for die cutting machine

Die cutting machine is a very important post-processing equipment in modern packaging, printing, and electronics industries. The main function is to "punch" or "cut" specific shapes from flat materials, similar to a more precise and efficient "industrial seal" or "cookie mould".

Main functions and roles
1. Precise molding: This is the most basic function. Cut paper, cardboard, and other materials into specific shapes and sizes using pre-set molds. For example, cut a large self-adhesive label into many individual label shapes.
2. Half cut cutting: This is the key technology of die-cutting process. The blade height of the die varies, allowing for control of the cutting depth. For adhesive materials, it is possible to only cut the surface material (such as label paper) without cutting the bottom paper, which facilitates subsequent waste disposal and labeling.
3. Indentation/creasing: Use a blunt edged indentation knife or creasing knife to press crease lines on the material for precise folding in the future. This is necessary in the production for paper boxes and packaging boxes.
4. Concave convex pressing: Using a concave convex mold that fits up and down, a three-dimensional relief effect is pressed onto the paper to enhance the texture and aesthetics of products such as high-end book covers, greeting cards, and gift boxes.
5. Waste disposal: After half cutting, peel off and remove unwanted scraps (waste) from the material, and remain the final formed product.

Main application industries and specific functions
1. Packaging and printing industry (most application area)
Paper box/carton production: Cut and press the unfolded image of the packaging box (such as wine box, cosmetics box, mobile phone box), then fold and bond it into shape.
Trademarks and labels: produce various shapes of adhesive labels, anti-counterfeiting labels, food labels, etc.
Cards and Gifts: Create complex shaped cards, 3D books, and exquisite gift packaging.
2. Electronic industry
Die cut parts/electronic accessories: This is a high-end application of modern die cutting. Used for precision cutting of functional materials such as shock resistance, insulation, conductivity, shielding, thermal conductivity, and bonding.
Specific products: dust-proof nets inside mobile phones/computers, battery insulation sheets, screen dust-proof foam, camera sealing rings, conductive foam, graphite heat sinks, contours of FPC flexible circuit boards, etc.
3. Automotive, medical, and other industrial areas
Used for cutting interior materials, soundproof cotton, sealing gaskets, medical dressings, medical breathable tapes, protective clothing components, etc.

The main types of die-cutting machines
According to the degree of automation and process principles, it mainly divided into the following types:
1. Flat platen die-cutting machine:
Principle: The plate table and pressure plate are both flat, and they are pressed vertically like stamps.
Features: Relatively simple structure, high pressure, high precision, suitable for short to medium length live parts. Widely used for die-cutting of adhesive labels, cardboard, and paper boxes.
Common forms: Trademark die-cutting machine, manual/automatic hot stamping die-cutting machine.
2. Rotary die cutting machine:
Principle: Using a cylindrical drum die and a matching bottom roller, the material is continuously die cut through rotation between the two.
Features: Extremely fast speed, high efficiency, very suitable for continuous production of large quantities and long format products (such as corrugated cardboard boxes, beverage packaging, and bulk labels). It is the core equipment of large packaging enterprises.
3. Circular die cutting machine:
Principle: Combined he characteristics of a rotary and a flat platen surface, using a flat platform and a circular pressure roller. The drum rolls on the flat plate to complete the die-cutting process.
Features: Faster than flat pressing speed, greater than circular pressing pressure, higher precision, suitable for medium batch fine die-cutting (such as high-end cigarette packs and cardboard boxes).
4. Laser die-cutting machine:
Principle: Using high-energy laser beams instead of physical cutting dies, cutting materials directly through computer-controlled ablation.
Features: No need to make a knife mold, high flexibility, fast order change, suitable for small batch customization, sampling, and complex graphic cutting. Usually used in high-end packaging, textile, and flexible circuit board (FPC) processing.

The core function of a die-cutting machine is to efficiently and accurately convert flat materials into specific shapes and functional components.
It has evolved from a traditional "shape processor" for printing and packaging to an indispensable "precision forming expert" for functional components in modern precision manufacturing, especially in the consumer electronics industry chain. The technical level directly affects the appearance quality, production efficiency, and functionality of the final product (such as sealing, heat dissipation, and insulation of electronic devices).
