From raw paper rolls to finished cardboard box, the most important production process can be devided into two stages:
1.the production of corrugated cardboard,
2.the printing and forming of cardboard boxes.

The whole process is like bulid a complete"big board" with LEGO bricks, and then cutting, folding, assembling these board into final"small box".

It can be divided into below two steps:
Step 1: The production process for corrugated cardboard(from"paper" to"board")
This is a critical stage which endowing cardboard boxes with core properties such as strength and cushioning, the aim is make the flat base paper into corrugated cardboard with supporting structures.
Preheating and adjustment: the raw paper will pull out from the production line and heated by a preheater. This step can adjust the moisture content of the paper in order to make it soft and stable, preparing for precise crimping in the next step, otherwise, if the paper si too dry or too wet, it will affect the forming quality.
Pressing and gluing: the is the most important step. Corrugated paper will be put into a corrugated roller with toothed rollers and pressed into wavy"ridges"under high temperature and pressure, and then the pressed ridges will be coated with glue.
Bonding and drying shaping: after gluing, the corrugated paper core will be adhered to the surface paper&inner paper to form a complete piece of cardboard, the laminated cardboard will go through a long drying channel and quickly cured with high temperature glue, it can make the cardboard flat and hard, finally, the continuous cardboard will be cut horizontally into the required size by customer and stacked for future use.

Step 2: Printing and forming for cardboard boxes(from"board" to "box")
The cardboard is ready on this stage, next, we need to according the order requirement, process them into three-dimensional cardboard boxes, this stage can be summarized as "printing" and "molding", which can decide the appearance of carton box and final three-dimensional shape.
Printing: printing brand logos, production information, barcodes on cardboard. Most modern carton box factory use water-ink flexographic printing process, the advantage is environmentally friendly, fast drying and it suitable for large-scale production.
Line pressing and slotting/die-cutting: this step will decide the"creases" and"cuts" of cardboard from flat to three-dimensional.
Line pressing: use a roller to press clear line marks on the cardboard, in this way, the cardboard can be folded straight and accurately into boxes along these line.
Slotting/die-cutting: this is the key step to decide the box shape.
For standard carton box, the slotting step will cut the required slots and tongue joints for folding
For irregularly shap or intricately designed carton box, we need to use die-cutting to cut out all the contours and details in one time, like use cookie molds.
Joining: once the cardboard is folded by required shape, we need to fix it with a nail box or a glue box to form a complete and expandable carton box.

Another key process: preprint
In actual production, several company will use"pre-printing" process in order to get higher quality printing effect: first, complete the exquisite printing on the surface paper, then, composite the printed surface paper with corrugated paper core, this step can avoid potential damage to the strength of the cardboard during the subsequent printing process, especially suitable for large quantity and high quality request orders.
